Linking the Environment, 2018 (no. 5)

A few of the more interesting links I’ve come across, lately:

  1. An article from today in The Economist points out that only 7% of plastics are recycled. Most plastic waste ends up in the oceans, particularly from China and parts of Africa.
  2. NiCHE (Network in Canadian History & Environment) posted a discussion, yesterday, about the difference between environmental history and environmentally minded history. It’s worth a read, if you’re interested in methodology.
  3. Also yesterday, the National Observer published an interview with David Suzuki, in which he is highly critical of Justin Trudeau, B.C. Green Party leader Andrew Weaver (and, indirectly, the B.C. NDP), and of our current economic system, which only privileges growth. I find his work insightful, and he pulls no punches.
